Safety is Job #1

Every client’s operations, policies, and limits of exposure are different; unique to a culture all its own. We put 100% of our focus upon minimizing the risk for all parties, to the lowest possible level. This means that we constantly evaluate, modify, assess, and execute to eliminate to the maximum extent possible risk to your employees, risk to our construction workers (and their families), risk to site visitors, risk to property, and risk to your continued business operations.

Job Site Safety

Job site audits are conducted weekly, utilizing an outside safety consultant. This assures that safety is proactively and objectively addressed with our personnel on all of our project sites. The results of the audits are reviewed to provide additional opportunities to amend our safety policy and enforcement programs.

In addition, we proactively discuss such things as near-misses to assure we don’t encounter similar conditions in the future. Should an accident occur, we immediately and thoroughly investigate utilizing both in-house and outside consultants.

Job site safety audits are performed weekly by Garmong safety personnel and an independent safety auditor. This action allows us to review and refine our safety plan for each job weekly.

Substance Abuse Prevention

All Garmong employees, including executives, project managers, and administrative personnel are subject to random drug testing. All field construction workers are pre-tested as a condition of employment through various labor union sponsored substance abuse prevention programs.

Training and Certifications

Garmong is committed to ongoing safety training. All of our crews are certified by OSHA in areas acknowledged by the industry as critical to safe and efficient job site management and production. Such areas include CPR, basic first-aid, scaffolding, ladder use, lift operation, fall restraint, the use of powder actuated tools, the operation of fork trucks, laser operation, fall protection, trenching and excavation, the use and maintenance of hand tools, fire extinguisher maintenance and use, hazard communication, emergency preparedness, and blood borne pathogens.

Incentive Program

Garmong revised its Safety Incentive Program in the latter part of 2006. It has paid great dividends in our awareness as reflected in our safety statistics listed above. The incentive program rewards all field employees and superintendents in 30-day increments, continuously keeping safety a priority on the job site.
